About: Welcome to Catherine Jackson’s Realm of Thinking?
Manipulation-yes, I said it.
What is the purpose of language? What is the purpose of studying Shakespeare, Poe, Hemingway, Wiesel, Bradbury, Rand, or any author? Is it to learn about their lives? Is it to memorize lines or study what literary devices are? My answer-No! The necessity of understanding language is so you can get what you want-eeeeek! Fellow English teachers, cover your eyes, the imagery, detail, diction, figurative language, syntax, may appall you, but this is the how and the why English class gains purpose.
Muhahahaha-yes, language is the key to survival. You need me-you just don’t know how much yet. 🙂
What’s the Point?
Many may sit and ponder what kind of deviant soul has proclaimed such atrocities-well, that would be me, Catherine Jackson. I am just an ordinary public school teacher in Texas. My goal is to reach as many students, parents, and teachers as I possibly can to help open eyes and see the students and potential that stands before them. I want kids to know that regardless of their environment, they can achieve what ever they wish-I could have disappeared in school, and no one would have noticed until a teacher opened her eyes and saw that I was more than I realized. This is my inspiration.
And the Plot is?
I plan on sharing ideas, questions, things that make you stop and reflect and question, technology that grabs students and shakes them into awareness, tools and strategies that will thrusts brains into engagement, and real life moments and experiences that will touch you, make you laugh, infuriate you, make you cry, and motivate you.
Are You Ready?
Want an adventure? Need some excitement? Need a reminder of why you get up every day to be buried under paper work? Need some ideas to help your kids move beyond regurgitation?
Then, take a chance-go ahead-risk it, and follow me. I can promise you this- I have no idea where I may lead you, but the experiences we gain will reverberate throughout cyber space. The world is ours-let’s run amuck.
